Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo said on Tuesday that the Binjhia community, among 12 others, is now in the mainstream of development as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has added them to the list of Scheduled Tribes.

“Today I am overjoyed that caste certificates for children of these 12 communities are being made and they are getting the benefits of welfare schemes.

“The pain and problems in this community had been raised loudly in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha since 2011. This is the achievement of years of struggle.”

Sai added that Modi gave justice to these 12 communities in 2022 by including them on the list of scheduled tribes.

He was addressing a felicitation ceremony for All India Binjhia Samaj in Jamdei village in Surajpur district. Speaker Raman Singh was present.

On this occasion, Sai announced the construction of ropeway at Maa Kudargarhi temple, the widening of the Pampapur road from Devipur Mahamaya Temple, the construction of a culvert in the Jogiguda drain, a community hall and a 50-seater girls’ hostel.

Singh said: “History is being made. This decision is benefiting around 25 lakh people.”
