President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday gave away the National Platinum Award to the Bilaspur district administration of Chhattisgarh for its innovative website.
Bilaspur Collector Saurabh Kumar received the award at an event organized by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology in Vigyan Bhawan here.
The website of the Bilaspur administration won the award in the category of Best Web and Mobile Initiative Compliant with Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) and accessibility guidelines, an official communication said.
The website has been developed on the lines of the Central government flagship scheme Digital India. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) prepared the website with information about central and state government schemes.
The website provides special facilities for the differently-abled. Visually impaired can also listen to information through a software.
This facility is currently available only in English. Hindi will be introduced soon.
