A 28-year-man youth was killed, while his friend sustained severe injuries after their motorbike was hit by a speeding van late on Sunday night near Hakeem hotel under Govindpura police station area.
The accident victim has been identified as Krishna Ahirwar and his friend as Santosh. Police said the incident took place at around 10.30 pm when the speeding van hit on the bike drove by Krishna. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where Krishna was declared dead while Santosh was referred to Hamidia hospital for further medication.
Santosh sustained severe injuries in his head, hand, shoulder and back. Doctors at Hamidia hospital claimed that chances of his survival were bleak. The victim used to work at Hakeem hotel near ISBT bus stand and used to stay at the hotel. Police said that the vehicle involved in the accident had been seized and under police custody now, but police were not able to found the driver. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The police have registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC and have started further investigation.
