The Bijapur district has been the focus of Maoist violence with 934 incidents recorded between 2008 till June 20, 2013 as per the details provided to the Chhattisagrh Assembly by the State Government.
The second highest number of Naxal related violence during the aforesaid period was recorded in Dantewada at 592 followed by Kanker (513). The district-wise record of the number of Naxal related violence recorded is as follows — Bastar (170),Narayanpur (414), Sukma (79), Kondagaon ( 18), Rajnandgaon (167), Balrampur (62), Jashpur (17), Surajpur (7), Korea (1), Raipur (4), Dhamtari (33), Raigarh (4), Mahasamund (5), Gariaband ( 60) and Balod (9).
