Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan called on Chief Minister Raman Singh here on Saturday at his official residence and he offered to help Chhattisgarh in its image build-up drive globally.
Reports said that Singh who is heading the BJP Government since December 2003 in the mineral and cultural rich State, accorded warm welcome to Bachchan and briefed him in details about about the aesthetic, social and cultural features of Chhattisgarh.Bachchan informed Raman Singh that if the State Government is willing to use his voice for projecting the specialities of Chhattisgarh, especially the tourist spots and archaeological sites like Sirpur, across the nation and abroad, he would be more than happy to cooperate.
Chief Minister informed Bachchan about various achievements of Chhattisgarh in different sectors of development. Singh presented two books, based on Naya Raipur Development Project and other development activities of state, to Bachchan.
Chief Minister told him, “Chhattisgarh is the first zero power cut state of the country. 27 per cent of the steel, 26 per cent of the cement, and 30 per of the aluminium in India is produced in Chhattisgarh state and in next 10 years, Chhattisgarh will become the most developed State of the country”.
Chief Minister expressed pleasure about Bachchan’s visit to Raipur and said that people of entire state were eagerly waiting for him. He requested Bachchan to plan Chhattisgarh tour again for a little longer duration, as per his convenience, so as to visit the archaeological site of 6th century- Sirpur, Chitrakote waterfall and other tourist destinations of Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister also told Bachchan that Bastar is one of the most beautiful places on earth. On the occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal, Union Minister of State for Steel Vishnudev Sai, Chhattisgarh Food Minister Punnulal Mohile, Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Ramsheela Sahu and other senior Public Representatives, along with Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand, Director General of Police AN Upadhyay, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Aman Kumar Singh and other senior government-administrative officials were also present. Dr Singh introduced all of them to Bachchan.
