The State Government has decided to establish an ultra modern planetarium in the township. The planetarium would enable the general public and the students to gain knowledge about mysteries of space. The Government has sent a proposal to offer 10 acres of land to Bhilai Steel Plant for establishing the planetarium, officials stated.

It may be recalled that the people visiting ‘Rajyotsav 2014’ in Tuta village last year in Naya Raipur took keen interest to gather information about the space images and models being exhibited by Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CCST). The Council  established a temporary ‘Space Theatre’ for the visitors to give them the feel of being in the space.

A show of 15 minutes duration in the digital planetarium was exhibited by CCST from 4 pm till 10 pm daily which drew huge crowds and enabled the people to quench their thirst for learning more about the universe, officials stated. A long queue of people especially school and college students was seen every day waiting for their turn to have this experience. In the show, CCST used 3D effects to create virtual image of Galaxy, Milky Way (Akash Ganga), Big Bang model, planets etc.

This apart, CCST also to enthralled the audiences through special effects created with the combination of audio-video inputs while giving them vital information about the cosmos in the theatre at the venue.
