Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has installed as many as nine different management systems for effective operation of its various work processes.  The management systems are QMS-Works, QMS- Personnel, QMS-Township, QMS-HRD, EMS-Works, EMS-Township, EMS-Dalli Mechanised Mines, OHSMS and SAMS and got them certified in phases by 3 different certifying agencies.

With a view to standardising and enhancing effectiveness of the management systems with regards to  documentation, auditing (both internal & external), management reviews, departmental corrective action reviews, record keeping, etc, the BSP management has decided to integrate all the certified management systems and get the IMS of BSP certified by a single certifying agency M/s DNV.

BSP CEO S Chandrasekaran dedicated the IMS certificate to the plant and handed over the certificates to all EDs recently. M/s DNV conducted stage-I and Stage-II certification audit in April14  and May 14 respectively and finally recommended the IMS of BSP for certification.

Moreover, with this certification, the BSP became the first SAIl plant and figured among few corporate houses in India to achieve this unique distinction.
