The Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) organised a mega event ‘Shakti 2016’, celebrating the enduring spirit and strength of women to mark International Women’s Day on Tuesday at HRDC here.
The chief guest on the occasion was H Devika, President, Bhilai Mahila Samaj. Also present was S Chandrasekaran, CEO, BSP, along with other senior officers including lT Sherpa, ED (P&A), PK Sinha, ED (Mines-Rowghat) SK Saha, ED (Mines), PS Bhadauria, ED (MM), RK Rathi, ED (Works), Madhuri Menon, GM (Mgt Services), SPS Jaggi, GM (BE & l & A), Dr Sujata Hiran, Director (M & HS), senior office-bearers of Bhilai Mahila Samaj including Nisha Sinha, Papiya Saha and Kalpana Bhadauria, a BSP press release informed.
President, Bhilai Mahila Samaj, H Devika, and other dignitaries present lit the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the function.
Shakti is being organized by Business Excellence Dept of Bhilai Steel Plant for the past three years to mark International Women’s Day. Several competitions for women are organized that provide women a platform to express their opinions and express their talent.
The function was addressed by S Chandrasekaran, CEO, H Devika, President, Bhilai Mahila Samaj, Madhuri Menon, GM (Mgt Services).
Nisha Sinha, Smt Papiya Saha and Smt Kalpana Bhadauria also shared their experiences and opinions. Dr Smt. Sujata Hiran, Director (M & HS) spoke about some health issues of women.
A Souvenir on Shakti was released by the Chief Guest and other special guest on the occasion. A special edition of Ignition, focused on women leadership was also released by Chandrasekaran.
Prizes were given away to winners of several competitions organized as part of Women’s Day. The first prize for "SAIl DIl SE"- A paper writing & presentation competition organised on March 3,2016 on the theme - "Building emotional connect with employees' families regarding SAIl's turnaround plan – developing strategies and action plan was bagged by the team of Ahrita Kundu, JM, BRM and Saikat Mondal, JM, ACWE.
Two teams – the first team comprising of Satyavan Nayak, AM, PRD and JV Vibha, Senior Statician, Cost Control and the second team comprising of Sakshy Shrivastava, JM, URM and Sapan Bansal, JM, URM – RWl were tied for the 2nd prize.
The consolation prizes were bagged by the team of Aparna Chandra, DM, HRDD and Jaya Tiwari, DM (Projects) and the team of Yaminin Tamrakar, SM, M & BP and Deepmala, DM, INCOS.
The first prize for a debate competition held on March 2, 2016 was bagged by Sakshy Shrivastava, JM (URM) while Amrita Gangrade, SM (C & IT) bagged the second prize.
The consolation prizes were bagged by Manju Maurya, OCRT, RCl, Jaya Tiwari, DM (Projects), Abha Sashi Kumar, Counselor, Counseling Section.
The function was compered by Preeti Bhatnagar, AGM (BE) and Prarthna Ghosh, Management Trainee (Tech). Manju Haridas, AGM (BE) and officials of BE Dept and HRDC played an important role in organizing the fuction and the competitions.
Atashi Pramanik, DGM (C&IT) proposed the vote of thanks.
