Bhilai Steel Plant celebrated World Earth Day on Sunday and this year, the theme as given by Earth Day Network is “Face of Climate Change.", a statement of the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the largest profit-making unit of the public sector Steel Authority of India ltd (SAIl), informed.
In his address, RC Kulkarni, GM (Power facility) and chief guest of the function. emphasized “we need to pay-back whatever that we have received from mother earth for our development by environment conservation and optimal utilisation of natural resources.”
RK Agarwal, Deputy General Manager (Environmental Management) cherished the effort made by Gaylord Nelson for propagating the concept of Earth Day throughout the world.
Agrawal also gave information on BSP’s effort for energy conservation and pollution reduction for a clean and green working environment within the plant. Environment Management System ISO: 14001 coordinators from various department of BSP were present at the programme.
An environment pledge was taken by all officers present on the occasion.
A technical presentation on theme topic was made by Vishnu Kumar Pathak, Senior Manager (Environmental Management). The program was conducted by Dr. D S Chandel.
