A bandh was observed in Mahasamund by Bajrang Dal and other organisations to protest breaking of an idol at a village about 8 km from district headquarters. “The bandh was peaceful and no violent incident of any kind was reported in the city,” Superintendent of Police (SP), Deepak Kumar Jha said.
He informed that about a week back, some anti-social elements had broken the idol of a deity installed in a temple at Nandgaon village about 8 km from district headquarters. Govt offices and chemist shops remained open; while, some schools were closed.
