District Collector Ankit Anand on Wednesday stated that a ban had been imposed on inter-state transfer of poultry birds in Chhattisgarh.
The Collector has also ordered culling of birds in the government poultry farming zone in the district headquarters to prevent other birds in the region contracting the disease.The orders issued by the Collector are being implemented by the Rapid Response Team of the State Veterinary Department. The members of the Rapid Response Team are also being deployed at the check posts on inter-state borders to prevent transport of poultry birds from other states into Chhattisgarh, he said.
It is suspected that the disease got spread in the government poultry farming zone either through migratory birds or through transportation, Anand said.
