The Bharat Aluminum Company ltd (Balco) has bagged the best CSR company award in mining sector, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
Balco’s community development assistant manager Tarang Singhal and assistant manager communication Pranath Mishra received the Best CSR Practice Award for 2014 instituted by Think Media Inc from i-watch chairman Krishan Khanna at New Delhi in a special function.
Baishali Bomjan, Director, CCS Academy & Asia Centre for Enterprise (ACE) and Sara Willis, commerce secretary at the Canadian High Commission were among many top experts and dignitaries who were present on the occasion. Apart from Balco, representatives of several other companies including Vedanta Aluminium limited, Jindal, Indian Oil, NDTV, DlF, Essar and GMR were also present at the event.
Both Mishra and Singhal briefed on the initiative taken by Balco for community development including in the area of education, health, empowerment of women.
The organisers presented the awards to different companies in 12 categories. Apart from discussion on different subjects, new techniques related to CSR were also demonstrated at the conference.
