Balco vice president (Hot Metal) Deepak Prasad received the award from the organiser in a grand function at Mumbai. The Indian Manufacturing Excellence Award 2013 was conferred to Balco under mega industries category for its excellence in product quality and productivity. IMEA was conceptualised and instituted by Frost & Sullivan in 2004 to support companies in their journey towards building a competitive and lean organisation. With effect from 2009, Frost & Sullivan and the Economic Times have collaborated to jointly host the awards. The award is not only designed to recognise the best manufacturing facilities in India but also to map manufacturing capability and highlight areas for improvement through an objective and well structured-assessment process.
