Baghel writes to PM over cancellation of trains, fare hike

Published on:

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the difficulties faced by people due to irregular running of trains, cancellations and fares.

Baghel wrote to Modi that the railways had been cancelling many long-distance and local passenger trains in Chhattisgarh for a long time without any prior notice or valid reason.

He said the cause of this is the increase in the number of goods trains transporting minerals from Chhattisgarh to other states and the priority given to them over passenger trains.

Another reason for the dissatisfaction of the passengers is the imposition of Express train fares on people travelling on passenger trains. Naturally, people are extremely agitated, he wrote.

He urged Modi to instruct the railways to set right the state of affairs.
