Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President, Bhupesh Baghel will visit Supebeda region of Gariaband district on Monday to know the ground realities of the kidney ailment by meeting the affected persons.
Congress spokesperson informing about the visit of Baghel to Supebeda said Government is spending crores of rupees to conduct ‘Vikas Yatras’ but had failed to provide safe drinking water in the Supebeda region.
Congress had raised the issue time to time and the residents of Supebeda even approached the All India Congress Committee Chief Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Bastar and Bilaspur region recently. The Youth Congress Gariaband too had taken out a ‘Padyatra’ (foot-march) recently from Gariaband to state capital to raise the voice of Supebeda people, the spokesperson said.
Even after raising the matter, the State government has not taken any concrete step to prevent the people of the region with the death toll increasing day by day, he said.
The kidney ailment in the region had claimed more than 64 lives in the village since 2009. The government is unable to provide safe drinking water to the village having population of about 1,500 only, he added.
