The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President, Bhupesh Baghel, ClP leader T.S. Singhdeo and State General Secretary, Girish Devangan on Wednesday left for New Delhi to meet the party's senior leaders.

“We will inform the senior leaders about the party’s activities including a series of protests held against the State government on paddy procurement policy and ongoing membership drive. Besides, we will also seek their guidance on the upcoming civic body polls” said Baghel.

Notably, the ongoing tension between Baghel and the former Chief Minister, Ajit Jogi has resurfaced over distribution of membership booklet.

Baghel and other party leaders are likely to hold discussions on a wide set of issues with AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi later, party sources informed.

Meanwhile, Baghel urged the State government to ensure that fair compensation should be given to the farmers under weather-based crops insurance scheme, whose crops were damaged due to Hudhud cyclone. “While making it mandatory for all the farmers to insure their crops under the scheme, the State government had claimed that the insurance will cover damage to the crops from natural calamities” said Baghel, in a press release issued here on Tuesday.

He further asked that now the government should make it clear that how they will compensate the farmers, who are affected from Hudhud cyclone under this scheme. The senior Congress leader said that the farmers are already facing many difficulties due to what they termed it ‘anti-farmers policies’ of the State government like limiting paddy procurement to 10 quintal peracre and delaying the process till December 1.

“The State Government should immediately take appropriate steps to ensure that the insurance company compensates the farmers of their damaged crops” he concluded.
