Chhattisgarh in-charge of Bharatiya Janata Party, Dr Anil Jain on Wednesday demanded resignation of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for his alleged failure to keep the promise of procuring paddy from state farmers at Rs 2500 per quintal.
Jain in a statement accused the Congress of using “falsehood” to gain power, adding the farmers of Chhattisgarh are feeling cheated.
To hide its own failure the Congress government in the state is blaming the Centre for the consequences, but actually the failure was due to “inability of leadership, absence of clear perspective and economic management,” he added.
“The Chief Minister has no right to be in power and hence he must immediately resign from his post,” Jain demanded.
The state Congress, replying to the allegation, said the party government in the state is committed to pay Rs 2500 per quintal for paddy and is thus fulfilling the promise made to state farmers.
Congress’s state general secretary and chairman communication wing Shailesh Nitin Trivedi in a statement said it is the Modi government at the Centre which has failed to fulfill the promises made to farmers. “Whether it is about implementing the Swaminathan Committee recommendation of paying to farmer 1.5 times of their production cost or be it the promise of doubling the income of farmers”, he said.
