Baghel meets Naxal-affected tribals of Bastar region

Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday night met Naxal affected tribals of the region and took their views on how to deal with the problem.

Those who called on the Chief Minister were victims of the red terror and had lost their kin in the Maoist attacks.

The CM met them in order to formulate a policy to curb the menace in the Naxal infested Bastar region as he had announced earlier.

Later on Friday he conducted Chaupals at a couple of places and dedicated to the public various development works.

The Congress government in Chhattisgarh had already set up a high-level committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to review cases against tribals jailed for alleged involvement in the Left-wing extremism.

This marks a shift from the stance adopted by the previous BJP government which had allegedly overlooked this angle and was more offensive.

Baghel later handed over appointment letters of government jobs to nearest kin of five Naxal victims who had lost their lives in Maoist attack. They are Amrita Yadav from Kanker, Gangaram Kodopi of Sameli, Laxmi Podyam of Potali, Savita of Gatam and Savita Nag of Bhansi.

Baghel held Chaupals at several places of the region including at Bhopalpatanam of Bijapur district, Polampalli of Sukma District. There he dedicated to the public various developments works and also laid foundation stone of works to be executed.
