Baghel launches Kaushalya Matritva Scheme for women

Published on:

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday launched the Kaushalya Matritva Scheme by handing over cheques worth Rs 5,000 each to five beneficiaries to bringing up their second girl child.

The launch was held at the Women’s Convention at BTI Ground on Women’s Day eve.

Earlier, addressing a state-level women's conference, Baghel said women in Chhattisgarh’s culture had possessed a respectable position by working shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts in the development of the society.

Women earlier lagged behind in contributing to the family economically, but the stalls of women entrepreneurs in Madai show that they have now come forward to provide monetary contribution to their family, he said.

The Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing ‘Mahila Madai’ at the venue and looked at the exhibition of products made by women Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

In the Madai, visitors are getting a glimpse of initiatives of the government for women empowerment.

Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhediya was present on this occasion along with officials of her department.
