Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday said that love, mercy, compassion and faith in God is the only way to salvation. Lord Jesus Christ showed this path. Where there is love and harmony, there will also be development.
Baghel joined a prayer on the occasion of Christmas at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Raipur, and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the state.
He extended Christmas greetings and best wishes to all the people including the Christian community, an official communication said.
He said the values of the culture of Chhattisgarh are also the basic mantra of the state government.
Lord Jesus himself has shown the way to continue serving the victims even after suffering. In the last two-three decades, there has been a sharp decline in human values all over the world, Baghel said.
The atmosphere of violence and hatred is thick. In such a situation, the relevance of the messages of Christ is greater, he said.
“We all need to remember and follow Jesus’ teachings. The path of hatred is the path of war and unrest while the path of love is the path of peace and harmony. ‘Chhattisgarhia culture’ has an ingrained message of respect for all beliefs and traditions,” he said.
Baghel said that during the last three years, his government has worked to strengthen the social fabric along with building infrastructure.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister cut a cake with the community members in the Cathedral. The church choir presented carol songs. Chhattisgarh’s new Bishop Ajay James welcomed Baghel.
