Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday launched the ‘Chakmak Abhiyan’ and ‘Sajag Abhiyan’ for all-round development of children of the state.
State women and child development department and the UNICEF’s Chhattisgarh chapter have jointly initiated the campaigns as part of a fun-learning project among school going and aanganbadis children.
Children will be given fun-learning tasks under Chakmak Abhiyan, which they can perform with their parents, grandparents and guardians at home, an official statement said.
This will not only help children overcome boredom but also encourage the family members to spend quality time with children through creative activities, it said.
Baghel, in his address said that during the lockdown, children and their parents are at home, as staying home is the best measure to prevent the Covid-19 infection.
“During this time, both the campaigns will engage the children of the state in fun creative activities, helping them to cope with the current circumstances and encouraging them to utilize their time constructively,” he said.
The chief minister spoke to two children and their parents of Binjam village through video conference.
He asked one of the parents about distribution of nutritious meals and ready-to-eat food in their area, to which she responded that she has received both.
The parent said that she is enjoying the time at home with her children and showed the chief minister the games they play at home.
