Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday alleged that fake ration cards were issued when Raman Singh headed a BJP government in the state.

Baghel told the media here that the Raman Singh regime issued lakhs of fake ration cards.

He reiterated that the Raman Singh government was involved in a multi-crore PDS scam from 2004 to 2015.

Baghel refuted allegations by Raman Singh that his government was involved in a Rs 500 crore PDS scam.

He said Singh had wrongly quoted the figures of shortage of rice in ration shops across the state.

Taking cognizance of the issue, "we have taken action to recover rice and terminate the PDS shop ownership", the Chief Minister said.

“The physical verification was done by the state government and we found shortage of rice and appropriate action was taken against the guilty,” Baghel said.
