About 100 houses in Bagharra village are under the grip of darkness since last fortnight, as the Energy Department authorities have not installed a new transformer so far, villagers complained. Even after registering many complaints, residents of the village are forced to live in the sweltering heat without electricity supply. Deputy Sarpanch Shiv Kumar Yadav of Bagharra village said that the transformer of bus stand colony, situated about 12-km away from Mungeli road, has gone out of order since last fortnight. Since April 23 this year, after the occurrence of unseasonal rain and storm, people are residing in darkness.
Due to power failure, all works that are dependent on electricity have been disrupted. “If the condition will not be improved soon, then we will be forced to take agitational path,” Shiv Kumar Yadav said. Due to the power failure, people are struggling for potable water. The ponds of villages are already dried up and as the temperature shoots up, soon the hand pumps will go dry. “We have got the information about power failure two days ago. The transformer will be changed by Saturday,” said Assistant Engineer Vijay Banjarey of Pandaria Power Distribution Centre.
