The Chhattisgarh-based Bharat Aluminium Co Ltd (BALCO) organized an event to generate public awareness on periods (menstrual cycle) in villages and Korba Municipal Corporation limits under a ‘Nai Kiran’ project.
Under the project, group members reach out to people.
The project started in 2019 and has covered 24,000 women and adolescent girls. Cooperation of Sarthan Jan Vikas Sansthan is being taken, a company statement said.
In the next phase, 40 villages of Korba district will be covered.
Under the project, women are also trained to manufacture sanitary napkins through a unit established at Balco Nagar.
