Assistant professors seek regularization

Nearly 900 Assistant Professors from all over the State who have been teaching on ad-hoc basis in various Government colleges, urged the State Government to recruit or regularise them for the 1,770 vacant seats in Government engineering, polytechnic and other colleges.

“We demand that the Assistant Professors should be regularise. Also, clearing Public Service Commission (PSC) must not be mandated for filling up the vacant posts in colleges,” said Arun Choubey, Chhattisgarh Sarvjan Hitaay Kalyan Manch in a Press conference on Tuesday.

“We all have cleared exams like NET and SET. We have PhDs, a pile of published articles and research papers and years of experience. But all this is of no use because around 100 of us have exceeded the maximum age-limit for PSC,” said Seema Tripathi, who is a guest lecturer in Rajnangaon Government college.

‘Chhattisgarh Sarvjan Hitaay Kalyan Manch,’ an organisation working towards the welfare of Assistant Professors, have been holding a dharna from February 15 for their demands.

“Even though we provide our services in the numerous Government works, we are left unemployed for six months in a year and it has become difficult for us to survive,” said Subodh Dewangan of the organisation. The outfit has urged the Government that they are regularised before the next academic session.
