Aspirational district Kondagaon bags laurels

The Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh has been adjudged 2nd in implementation of government programmes as per NITI Aayog rankings, a state government statement informed here on Sunday.

The Naxal-hit Kondagaon district would be awarded with cash price worth Rs 5 crore in a programme to be held in national capital on March 6.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January last year had launched the ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme which is intended to effectively transform some of the most underdeveloped districts of the country.

The purpose of this NITI Aayog ranking is to spur a sense of competition among the dynamic teams in the districts. A total of 115 aspirational districts have been identified across the country. Out of these 115, ten of the districts are in the state of Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has congratulated people of Kondagaon for their achievement and had said not only Kondagaon but all the districts of state would be benefitted with the state and centre sponsored schemes to make them prosper.
