In a fresh development, the counting of votes for the bypoll for Antagarh Assembly segment has been postponed to September 20.
Earlier, the counting date was scheduled on September 16 but on the request of District Electoral Officer in Kanker, the Election Commission of India has postponed the counting date to September 20, officials informed.
The by-election schedule for polling in Antagarh Assembly segment had been scheduled on September 13 and counting was scheduled on September 16.
It was learnt that the request by District Electoral Officer was made for the postponement of counting date due to heavy rainfall wherein several villages have been cut-off from the district headquarters.
This apart, on account of the monsoons, almost all rivers are flooded which had made the district administration ask for rescheduling the counting dates.
