To enhance coronavirus scanning across Chhattisgarh, the state government has decided to deploy Angawadi workers on a door-to-door campaign to scan the health of people.
This was decided at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at his residence on Monday, officials said.
While lauding the role of Anganwadi workers for distributing ready-to-eat food and dry ration door-to-door during the Covid-19 induced lockdown, Baghel said they will have to do the new task because of a sudden surge of coronavirus patients in the state.
“If they find any suspected coronavirus patient, they will have to inform the Health Department and get them tested,” the Chief Minister said.
He was reviewing the works of Women and Child Development Department and the Social Welfare Department.
Officials told the Chief Minister that in the past one year, over 62,500 children were freed of malnutrition under the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan.
Under the programme, 24.38 lakh beneficiaries received ready-to-eat food and 3.62 lakh got dry ration, officials said.
In Bastar, eggs were provided to children.
“These eggs should be purchased locally as it will benefit the locals,” the Chief Minister said.
