Anatagarh bypoll fixing: Pawar gives his voice sample

Published on:

Manturam Pawar on Tuesday reached the office of Special Investigation Team (SIT) and gave his voice sample for ongoing investigation in Antagarh by-poll fixing.

He expressed apprehension that there could be attempt on his life and said that in such a condition other accused in the case would be held responsible.

He claimed that he had voluntarily appeared before the SIT for giving the voice sample and that rest of the accused including former chief minister Raman Singh’s son-in-law Dr Punit Gupta, Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) Chief Ajit Jogi and his son Amit Jogi should also come forward and give their voice samples so that the confusion in the case could be ironed out.

Pawar gave his voice sample before SIT officer Abhishek Maheshwari and TI Sushanto Banerjee at Gunj police station. His voice will be now sent to lab for        sampling.

Notably, in the past SIT had issued a notice to Pawar for giving his voice sample to which he had refused but later on he agreed for giving his voice sample.

Manturam Pawar who was Congress party candidate in the 2014 Antagarh by-polls had withdrawn his candidature just before the polling thereby giving walkover to BJP candidate.

Later on, an audio tape had surfaced suggesting horse trading in the case which created political storm in Chhattisgarh as purported voices of Dr Punit Gupta, Ajit Jogi and Amit Jogi were reportedly heard in the tape.

“I was suppressed in BJP by former CM Raman Singh and not allowed to speak,” Pawar told media persons.
