Hectic discussions are being held at the State BJP headquarters here for the visit of the party’s national president Amit Shah on December 12 to Chhattisgarh. This would be Shah’s first visit to the State after becoming BJP’s national president. Party sources informed that Shah will be holding a lengthy meeting with all the party’s senior leaders in the State during his visit to discuss a wide set of issues.
The office-bearers of the party on Thursday have been assigned responsibilities and been directed to ensure 100 per cent attendance of the party workers for the success of BJP National President Amit Shah’s proposed visit to the State on December 12. The office-bearers held a meeting on Thursday which was attended by party’s State President Dharamlal Kaushik and Chief Minister Raman Singh.
Addressing the meeting, Kaushik said that Chhattisgarh BJP has received acclamation at national level and it should work for the success of Shah’s visit. The party is very serious over the membership campaign and to make it ‘historic’ as Shah himself is coming to Chhattisgarh.
To meet the expectations of the party leadership and to achieve the target assigned to Chhattisgarh for membership, all the workers and leaders will have to work with utmost sincerity, he said. The programme on December 12 should be such that it echoes at national level, said Kaushik. Responsibilities were assigned to MlAs, MPs, Ministers, state office-bearers, BJP district presidents and others during the meeting.
BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Rampratap Singh gave information to the members on different aspects of the membership campaign. He said that Chhattisgarh has been given membership target according to its reputation. Apart from online membership, the traditional way of membership should also be used. Each worker will have to make 100 primary members to become an active member, said Singh.
Chief Minister Raman Singh said that party’s National President Amit Shah has complete information about membership campaign of the State and hence those sharing responsibilities in the campaign should be prepared. During the meeting, Singh also decided to increase the limit of paddy purchase from the farmers by the State government from 10 quintals per acre to 15 quintals per acre.
The party leaders said that the decision was taken by the Chief Minister following concern raised by the office bearers for the farmers of the State in the meeting. The office-bearers hailed the decision taken by the Chief Minister and thanked him for the decision taken in the interest of farmers. State In-charge of membership campaign Bhupendra Sawanni and BJP State General Secretary Shivratan Sharma also addressed the meeting.
