Congress leader Amit Jogi, who is party legislator from Marwahi constituency, on Monday demanded a ban on Modi’s ‘chai pe charcha’ saying that it is a clear violation of model code of conduct.
BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has been holding discussions with cross section of society through live conference for the past few days. The discussion has been named as Modi’s ‘chai pe charcha’. The party has also been offering tea to people by opening tea stalls across the country which is free-of-cost, by assembling them at different places, which is a violation of model code of conduct, Jogi said in a statement.
In Raipur and other places of Chhattisgarh also the BJP activists have been trying to influence the electorates in similar way, claimed Amit Jogi who is the son of State’s former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi. Demanding immediate ban on such tea parties, the junior Jogi said “the Election Commission must include the cost of such tea parties in the BJP’s election expenses.”
The Election Commission should also take action against the leaders and office bearers who have been organising such tea parties for violation to ensure free and fare election, he said. The junior Jogi also hit out at BJP for declaring Modi as their Prime ministerial candidates even though according to the Indian constitution the PM has to be elected by the elected members of the house. He also slammed the State Government for organising tea parties and attempting to allure the voters.
