Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh on Sunday said that a beautiful garden will be developed in Naya Raipur in memory of the great architect of the Indian Constitution Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and a statue of Baba Saheb will be installed in it. The chief minister has declared sanction of Rs 26 lakh for the construction of a community hall on the Bouddh Vihar premises at Rajendra Nagar in the state capital. Addressing the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti function here o n Sunday, the chief minister said that Chhattisgarh was the first state that has made separate rule for the simplification of caste certificate preparation process. This rule would be notified in the gazette soon, he added.
Earlier, the chief minister garlanded the statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar at the venue of the function and paid floral tributes to him. PWD minister Brijmohan Agrawal presided over the function, while Raipur Development Authority chairman Sunil Soni, Raipur mayor Kiranmayi Nayak and Municipal chairman Sanjay Shrivastava were present as special guests.
Addressing the function, the chief minister said that Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar as a lighthouse had illuminated the lives of millions of people. Walking on the path of equality, self-esteem and education shown by Dr Ambedkar, the people of disadvantaged and backward classes were also moving ahead, he added.
Dr Singh said that during the last 13 years Chhattisgarh had created its identification as the fast developing state in the country. He said that Rs 40 lakh grant would be distributed to various institutions of the state for the celebration of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti.
On the occasion the chief minister presented mementos to Padmashri Bharti Bandhu, a resident of Raipur and meritorious students Sweta Meshram and Yash Wasnik. Singh has also released the audio-video CD on literacy prepared in Chhattigarhi language.
PWD minister Brijmohan Agrawal, while presiding over the function, remembered the contribution of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in creating an equality-based society. He has declared to give Rs 5 lakh grant from the MlA fund for making umbrella on the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Ambedkar Chowk.
Baba Saheb Ambedkar Public Jayanti function committee general secretary Bhojraj Gourkhede proposed the vote of thanks to the chief minister and the special guests.
