All farmers will get soil-testing card within 3-years: Brijmohan

Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Brijmohan Agrawal said that soil-testing card of every farmer of the State would be prepared within the next three years.

He said that whatever deficiency is found in the soil, the farmers should inform officers of the Agriculture Department for seeking advice for its treatment.

Addressing the farmers at the district-level ‘Organic farming fair’ organised at Gunderdehi, the district headquarters of Balod, Agrawal said that Organic farming is best and profitable for the farmers of Chhattisgarh.

The State Government has been making every effort to promote it. With Organic farming, the fertility of the land remains and as the crop remains without use of chemicals, there is no possibility of any harm from them, he added.

Agrawal said, in order to promote ‘Organic farming’ a ‘Gaushala’ ( cow shelter) would be established in 50-acres of  land in each development block, where bio fertilizer would be prepared with the cow-dung and its urine.

From the next year, farmers would be given guidelines for hybrid farming by holding of  ‘Krishi melas’ (Agriculture fairs) in all development blocks. In the days to come, farmers engaged in Organic farming would get facilities, he added.

Agrawal encouraged the farmers to increase their income by farming vegetables, fruits, sugarcane etc, besides paddy. Under the ‘Atma Yojana,’ Agrawal awarded 10 farmers with cheques worth Rs 10,000 each.

Under the National Food Security Mission Scheme, a grant amounting to Rs 15,000 has been given to Dhanau Ram of Phunda village for Seed Drill and Rs 30,000 to Manthir of Saloni village for Thresher Machine. Similarly, diesel pumps were supplied to six farmers at 75 per cent grant.
