Aiming to improve transportation facility in the region by ensuring better operation of city bus service, Surguja District Collector and Chairperson of Surguja Urban Public Transportation Society Ritu Sain on Sunday chaired a meeting of bus operators and office-bearers of the Society.
Operation of city buses will be carried out by keeping public interest in mind, said Sain and directed officials concerned to ensure that every city bus plying in the region should have a route chart and tariff according to the stoppage.
Meanwhile, the Collector also directed the bus operators to compile database of staff and submit information regarding their identity and payment details with the Society.
Rules and regulations for operation of city buses have to be abided by the operators. Moreover, in connection with eve teasing related cases and for other irregularities, bus operators have to pay fine, she said.
Staff to be engaged for operation of city buses will be subjected to a training session, Sain said.
A number of matters linked with operation of city bus facility in a smooth manner were discussed during the meeting.
On the occasion, Superintendent of Police (SP) R S Nayak, officials concerned, bus operators and public representatives were present in the meeting.
