Ajit Jogi finally says good bye to Cong

Days after being booted out of Congress Working Committee (CWC) and deciding to form his own party, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi finally severed his long relations with the Indian National Congress (INC) by resigning from party’s primary membership here on Wednesday.

“I have resigned from Congress party’s primary membership and have sent my resignation to Congress party president Sonia Gandhi. As you know, I was already freed from other responsibilities of the party and I have formed my own party; therefore, I tendered my resignation to the Congress president,” Jogi told reporters at his residence here.

He alleged that for distracting people from his June 21 public meeting scheduled at Thathapur in Raipur district, the Congress party is holding a division-level programme the same day. The Congress leaders ‘on the directions of Chief Minister Raman Singh’ are organising the meeting the same day, he charged.

My ‘Gram Awaz Programme’ at Chief Minister’s home village was scheduled about a month back and the State Government while troubled from my programme had launched the scheme for touring panchayat representatives to different parts of the State, he said.

The Chief Minister during the past 12 years had never stayed at Thathapur; but after hearing about my programme, he stayed in the village and had also asked panchayat members not to switch their sides, Jogi claimed.
