Notably, Supebeda, a village in Gariaband district is infamous for deaths due to   kidney failure. As per a state government’s data about 70 deaths have been reported since 2008 due to kidney failure.

“While interacting with people in the medical camp held over there, we found five persons who had creatinine levels around risky zone,” Dr Nagarkar said while adding the reasons leading to such health condition needs to be investigated thoroughly.

According to the Director AIIMS, fluorosis condition was spotted among the villagers, which indicate there was problem of fluoride water in the village.

“We will have to study, water resources, genetic causes, food habits, medicinal or other causes to find the exact reason leading to kidney      troubles”, he opined.

He said if the state government was ready to provide logistic and other required supports, AIIMS would provide treatment and blood transfusion service to the patients from Supebeda.

It is worth mentioning, recently state health Minister TS Singhdeo had visited Supebeda following the death of a man due to kidney failure and had assured locals of better    treatment to the ailment.

In the meantime, former chief minister, Raman Singh taking a dig at the state government said it has been ten months now and state government should take some solid steps to address the problem effectively.

“If you (Congress) cannot        provide treatment for kidney troubles then why are you running the        government,” Raman Singh           questioned while talking to reporters.

According to Supebeda locals, people are now hesitant in coming forward as they have witnessed more talks and less concrete actions focused at solving their problem.
