The All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Raipur (AIIMS-R) conducted a three-day dialysis training programme for doctors of Chhattisgarh.
It was aimed at giving a much-needed impetus to the Health Department as district hospitals need more professionals for dialysis, a communication from AIIMS said.
Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar, Director, praised the Department of Nephrology for the innovative training. AIIMS's foremost priority is the capacity augmentation of the state Health Department, he said.
He said that such training could help provide advanced treatment facilities at the district level, thus putting less burden on super-specialty hospitals.
Programme Coordinator and HoD, Nephrology Department, Dr. Vinay Rathod, said the July 7-9 training witnessed intense theoretical and practical lessons on diverse dialysis topics.
According to Dr. Rathod, the department has conducted around 3,300 dialysis until June this year.
The training under the Pradhan Mantri Dialysis Programme will ensure expert dialysis facilities in 14 district hospitals across the state, he said.
