All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Friday formed a screening committee which will finalise the contenders for the party for the upcoming Assembly elections in the State. Bhuwaneshwar Kalita has been made the chairman of the committee while the other two members of the committee are Rohit Chaudhari and Ashwin Bhai Kotwal.
The AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi during a public meeting held in the state during his recent visit had announced that the list of contenders would be finalized till August 15. Acting briskly to meet the target and following the instructions AICC General secretary Ashok Gehlot on Friday declared the committee which will screen the list of contenders panel for which has to be prepared by the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee.
Apart from Chhattisgarh, the AICC also declared the screening committee members for the four other states where elections are to be held in coming months. The other four states are Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Odisha.
