Agents of chit fund companies facing wrath of investors

With crores of rupees stuck with chit fund companies, the investors are still hoping for refund and are approaching the agents instead of going to the district administration for help.

They feel that intervention of the district administration will force the chit fund companies to run away and they do not want to take any chances.  Harried by the investors, an agent of a chit fund company approached the district administration seeking help to get refund for the investors.

“As many as 20 people had invested through me with HBN company and are now harassing me for the returns. Since I was just an employee of the company I am neither responsible nor in a position to return the money,” said Ishwari Nirmalkar, agent of the HBN company. She gave an application to the Collector and requested him to help her out of the situation.

She said that she is not being able to convince people and is being harassed by them for the refunds. “Every day I have to bear the harsh words and have to suffer the wrath of people. They claim that they had invested through her and she should get their money back,” said Nirmalkar.

Collector Thakur Ram Singh assured the agent of help and said that administration is looking for complainants to initiate action against the chit fund companies.

“The investigation is almost complete and we have arranged refund for more than a hundred investors of four companies operating in Raipur,” said District Treasury Officer NK Mishra, who also heads the committee formed by the Collector to investigate into the chit fund fraud.

Not disclosing much about the investigation, Mishra said that the committee was formed to investigate into complaints received against 20 chit fund companies. Out of these about 10 were not found as most of them had fled.

“The committee had communicated with CMD Pvt limited, PACl India limited, PGF ltd and HBN Company and asked them to deposit funds in their Raipur branch to refund the money of 105 investors. The refund is being done by these companies,” added Mishra. However, there is still a large number of people who are yet to get their money back and approaching the agents of these companies.
