The Chhattisgarh Government on Tuesday decided to develop the State reservoirs to introduce adventure sports facilities including boating.

The Tourism Minister Ajay Chandrakar has directed the senior officials of his department to create a road map in this regard as soon as possible.

Chandrakar recently reviewed the activities of the department and gathered information on the present status of different reservoirs. He also explored possibilities to make the adventure sports facilities available in reservoirs like Hasdeo Bango dam, Gangrel, Tandula, and Kodar.

The Minister was told that some parts of the reservoirs have been filled with swamps. Those need to be cleaned and can be used to build accommodation for the tourists and visitors.

In places like Goa and other beach towns, tourists often stay while putting up tents. Chandrakar asked the officials to explore possibilities to provide adventure sports facilities especially in rural areas so that it attracts tourists and visitors.

He also directed the officials to focus on Mainpat, a hill station where the Government wants to set up an adventure sports hub. He also emphasised the need for printing new brochures on various tourist destinations in such a way that it impresses the people. He also asked the officials to take measures to encourage rural sports.
