Road accidents can be averted by making minor technical changes from the engineering side, Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh) MP Chunnilal Sahu said on Tuesday.
He was addressing the Road Safety Committee meeting for his constituency held at the conference hall of Mahasamund Zila Panchayat. The meeting discussed vital road safety issues mainly on prevention of road accidents, removing stray cattle, installing street lights, holding drives under the Motor Vehicles Act violations and creating awareness among children. Sahu said accident prone areas and black spots should be identified and properly marked for motorists.
Mahasamund collector Doman Singh urged parents not to allow their minor children to ride two-wheelers. The riders of two-wheelers should be motivated to wear helmets.
He said state government employees will be booked under the Motor Vehicles Act if they reach office without a helmet.
