As the numbers of Covid positive patients rise again in Raipur, the district administration is mulling to make Covid tests mandatory before entering the capital region of Chhattisgarh, an official press release said on Thursday.
The District Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) has written to the district administration while proposing installation of Covid screen points on all major inter-district transit points, the press release said.
The second wave of Covid infection has already started in Raipur, it added.
At these Covid screening points, Antigen tests of people entering the city will be done. Only those found Covid negative will be allowed to enter the district.
Those found Covid positive will be suggested to get themselves admitted in a Covid hospital or go for home isolation. The district from where the Covid positives come will be informed, the press release added.
If a resident of Raipur coming from another district is found Covid positive and they are also suffering from a serious disease, then arrangements for transporting them to a Covid hospital will be made available at the transit point.
As per a Health Department report, by November 18 fresh Covid positive cases were registered in Chhattisgarh. Also 14 deaths were reported on Wednesday, pushing the total deaths to 2,646.
