Admin acts swiftly to set Rajnandgaon traffic system right

Traffic signals will be installed at Ramdarbar temple and RK Nagar Square besides zebra crossing on both sides of four lane near Ramdarbar temple in Rajnandgaon city.

The move comes in compliance of directives by the Chief Minister Raman Singh to find a permanent solution to the traffic problem in the city following death of a senior journalist Holkar Banchhor and his wife in a road accident on the night of May 17.

Collector Ashok Agarwal conducted inspection of Ramdarbar Square and RK Square to take stock of the traffic and lighting arrangements on the four lanes.

He instructed the Municipal Commissioner to install traffic signals to streamline the movement of vehicles through these areas.

Agarwal, while taking note of the poor lighting arrangement at the busy Ramdarbar Square, asked the Municipal Corporation officials to ensure proper lighting arrangement.

The Collector said that four poles should be installed on the divider of the road for putting up street lights. He also instructed to install traffic signals at Basantpur Square, Nandai Square and Ganj Chowk.

To check the speed of vehicles passing through RK Nagar Square, Agarwal said that speed breakers should be constructed on the road.

Agarwal was accompanied by City Mayor Naresh Daklia, Municipal Commissioner TK Verma, CSP Mohan Dubey, Dinesh Sharma and officers of Police and Municipal Corporation.
