Acute water scarcity hits Jagdalpur

Published on:

With the summer ahead, scarcity of drinking water is being felt across the city, which is divisional headquarters of Bastar region. Though lack of drinking water is felt everywhere, the bus stand area faces acute shortage of potable water.

More than hundred buses are scheduled to depart and arrive here every day for seven districts of the Bastar region. Interstate buses also operate from the stand especially from the neighbouring States of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Thousands of commuters use the lone available means for public transport every day but not only they remain bereft of basic amenities they also find quenching their parched throat a Herculean task, due to sluggish attitude of the civic body.

Public drinking water tap and hand pumps are in place but garbage littered around refrains commuters to make access to these drinking water sources. Even comfortable sitting facility is not available in the bus stand.
