All the gas companies and gas agencies have to provide information about the gas cylinders lifted by the commercial gas connection holders to the food department.

In the joint meeting of the officers of gas companies, agencies and food department, Raipur collector Thakur Ram Singh said that strict action should be taken against the gas agencies working against the rule and the illegal traders.

Gas agencies should supply commercial cylinders to the hotels, industries, hospitals, canteen and marriage places of their respective areas after spot inspection.

In the meeting, the Collector sought clarification from the officers of gas companies over how the seal of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) was put on the illegal commercial cylinders seized by the Food Department officers recently.

In spite of the prescribed rate, commercial gas cylinders are being sold at `1,300 per cylinder and the officers of the company are unaware of it.

If the officers of the company check the gas agencies, then information should regularly be given to the Collector and the Food Cell in Raipur.

The Collector said that the company, gas agency and officers of Food Department should conduct sudden inspection of industrial areas, hotels, hospitals, hostels and private canteens on a regular basis.

If any irregularity is found, then strict action should be taken. He said that arrangements should be made to make easy availability of gas cylinders of 5-kg. Connection holders should not have any kind of problem. Home delivery system should be improved and single cylinder connection holders should be given a second cylinder.

All the gas companies and the gas agencies should provide monthly information on prescribed format about the new domestic and commercial gas connection holders and persons using commercial gas by fifth of every month.

He expressed displeasure that the gas agencies do not report the matter to the Food Department or the company of the less supply of commercial cylinders. In the meeting, officers of the company have been asked to verify the cylinders seized on May 17, in which the officers said that the seal on the seized cylinders was fake.
