Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday recovered Rs35 lakh cash and 2 kg gold besides Rs36 lakh in the bank account of the servant of the irrigation department’s Executive Engineer (EE) Alok Agrawal.
The ACB sleuths have recovered Rs6 cores in cash from seven officers of irrigation department including Agrawal in the raids which started on Tuesday. The officers have also found that Alok Agrawal had purchased two houses and 40 acres of land. The servant named Abhiswami, informed that the cash, gold and amount in his current account belonged to Agrawal, said ACB sources.
They said that Agrawal was operating Sarkeswar Construction Company in the name of Abhiswami whom he had brought from his village. “Agrawal used to divert tenders to Sarkeswar Construction Company and made money running in crores this way,” ACB source said. “Abhiswami maintains a mediocre living standard and lives in a rented accommodation. He owns a motorbike and it was Alok Agrawal who controlled entire functioning of the construction company,” the ACB source added. Meanwhile Economic Offence Wing (EOW) has written letter to the state government for removing these officers. Meanwhile two officers BD Vaishnav and Makshi Kujur were produced in a local court and sent to jail on judicial remand, ACB source said.
