Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists on Wednesday staged a demonstration in the premises of dental college to register protest over an alleged incident of rape with a final year student of the institution, reported around a week ago.
Furious over the incident, the protestors demanded arrest of Uttar Pradesh based Dr Vikas Verma, who during his visit to Dental College here on December 24 as an external examiner, allegedly outraged the modesty of the student in the hotel room where he was staying. The student, in her complaint to the police, alleged Verma of calling her at his hotel room in pretext of going out for sightseeing. Mohdapara police has registered a case against Verma but his arrest was yet to be made.
Following the shameful incident, a large number of ABVP workers reached Dental College at this morning to register their protest. They also shouted slogans against a local staff member for his making accommodation, transportation and other arrangements for the accused during his visit. Heated protest set by ABVP workers disturbed classes in the college for quite some time. later, the college administration talked to the protesting youths and pacified them.
