Students from poor families would be admitted in private schools against at least 7,052 vacant seats for which two-day ‘School Admission Festival’ organised by the Education Department began here on Thursday.
The Government had organised similar admission fair last month during which as many as 3,486 students were given admission.
Students already admitted in schools have started their study, officials informed.
It is mandatory for private schools to reserve 25 per cent of their seats for children belonging to the families falling under below poverty line (BPl) category under the Right to Education Act (RTE).
Parents of such students appeared to be making desperate attempts during the ‘School Admission Festival’ to get their children admitted in private schools.
A large number of such parents reached the concerned schools on Thursday and submitted their admission forms during the ‘School Admission Festival’.
