A total of 650 companies of State and Central paramilitary forces have been deployed in Chhattisgarh for smooth conduct of polls in the State, State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Subrat Sahoo informed on Monday.
Addressing a press conference here, the CEO said that tentatively valid candidates are 1148 after 101 candidates withdrew their nomination papers across 72 assembly constituencies from total 1249 valid nomination papers filed for second phase of polls.
At 19 assembly constituencies, two ballot units would be used in the two phases of polls as the candidates are more than 18 while in three Assembly constituencies three ballot units will be used as there are 32 candidates in the fray, he said.
The final figure of assembly constituencies where such situation prevails will be arrived at after distribution of election symbols to candidates in fray, Sahoo said.
The all women ‘Pink Booth’ in Chhattisgarh will be known as ‘Sanghwari Mathdaan Kendra’ where all women staff would be deputed, he said.
“There will be no specialised marking except that where numbers of women are more such a facility is being extended so that women can participate in larger numbers”, Sahoo said.
He said that electoral slips with photograph would be distributed five days before polling, which may be delayed in certain pockets due to festival of Diwali.
The Booth-level Officer would ensure signature of electors on receipt of slip. Those not having slip can use any other mode of identity as specified by Election Commission to cast their vote, he said.
