428 penalised for driving sans helmet

Continuing the drive against helmet-less drivers, the traffic police penalized 428 persons on Tuesday. The drive however was limited to three places only.

‘We have received requests from different quarters to give some more time and therefore reduced the intensity of helmet drive. The checking is going on only at Telibandha police station, Pachpedi Naka and in front of University,’ said Additional SP Balram Hirwani.

Although we have relaxed the drive and limited it to three places, we will identify those who do not wear helmet despite warnings and penalize them. The checking will be continued at these places,” he said. On Monday 534 people were penalised for not wearing helmet. People were seen purchasing helmets from different outlets across the city.
